Riga, 14 August 2013.
AS “Pasažieru vilciens” (hereinafter referred to as “PV”), RP SIA “Rīgas satiksme” and SIA “Rīgas Karte” reached a settlement and decided to continue fulfilling the signed contract on implementation of the E-ticket (E-talons) system in trains within the borders Rīga.
The settlement prescribes that the contract concluded in October 2010 on installation of the electronic ticket system equipment and related services is renewed and the parties shall start actively working on the technical implementation of the system.
It is planned that sales of E-tickets at the box offices of PV will be resumed in the end of August and soon passengers can start using E-tickets in trains within the borders of Rīga. Those groups of passengers with discounts in the public transport of Rīga will be the first to start using E-tickets, later – other passengers as well. Passengers will not have any additional payments of purchase and use of E-ticket.
The Chairman of the Board of PV Artis Birkmanis is happy for the successful outcome of negotiations and the settlement, emphasising again that implementation of the E-ticket system is an important step towards integration of train services in the public transport system of Rīga. “E-ticket cannot be implemented without participation of system provider, therefore it was very important for us to achieve a common understanding with representatives of “Rīgas Karte” and “Rīgas satiksme” to ensure implementation of the project would be successful”, said A. Birkmanis.
As it was announced earlier, on 12 August, a tripartite cooperation agreement was concluded by PV, Rīga City Council and VSIA “Autotransporta direkcija”. According to this agreement, all categories of passengers with discounts in the public transport of Rīga can use the discounts also in trains within the borders of Rīga. To provide this opportunity to the passengers, E-ticket payment system is implemented in trains.
